This is one of the questions you ask me most often: "Lydie, my hips are wider than my shoulders, what style will flatter me?".
If this sounds like you, you have what's called an A-shape body type (or pear shape). Good news: it's a very feminine silhouette that can be easily enhanced! The goal? Balance the figure by drawing attention to the upper body and letting the lower body flow gently.
1. The Empire style: Your best ally
This is THE magic solution. The empire style is fitted just under the bust, then flares gently over the hips without accentuating them. It highlights the slimmest part of your torso.

Lydie's tip: Opt for our high-waisted elasticated models that lengthen the leg and elegantly blur the hips. 👉 Discover our flowy and empire-cut dresses
2. V-necklines or ornate necklines
To balance generous hips, you need to add volume or visual interest to your shoulders and chest.

Style tip: Choose dresses with collar details, embroidery, or criss-cross necklines. This draws the eye to your face and posture, visually rebalancing the lower body. 👉 View the entire selection of dresses from the boutique
3. Flowy and airy fabrics
No more rigid fabrics that "break" the line. We want movement! Viscose is perfect because it hugs your curves without ever bunching up. A slit at the bottom of the garment is also a real plus for elongating the silhouette.
💡 Final word: Having hips is an asset! Don't try to hide yourself in overly large ("oversize") clothes that would weigh down your figure. Play with flared cuts and pretty necklines to radiate.
